Clan Donald is the largest of the Highland Clans. At the height of our clan’s power we ruled a de facto independent kingdom in the West of Scotland, the Isle of Mann and part of Ireland. Our history is long and storied.
Today Clan Donald members exist everywhere on earth and our clan has branches which are full clans in their own right, yet all loyal to Clan Donald. This puts us in the unique position of being the only clan with a High Chief.
Our clan branches with Chiefs include Clanranald, Sleat, Glengarry, Antrim, and most recently, Keppoch. Other branches without active chiefs include Glencoe, Dunnyveg, Ardnamurchan, and more. Other clans such as Clan MacAlister are independant clans but also descended from and therefore part of Clan Donald as well.
